Mike Peace Woodturning has over 35,000 subscribers on YouTube. He is passionate about woodturning and wanted to share this content that will surely teach and inspire a lot of people. Before he became a content creator on YouTube, he was a Retired US Army, in the Reserves retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.   He belongs to the American Association of Woodturners (AAW) as the coordinator, with past assignments as Secretary, newsletter editor, President and Treasurer. He is also a member of the Georgia Association of Woodturners and the Atlanta Woodturners Guild where he served both clubs on the board of directors.   Mike shared about how he reached his success and his earnings on YouTube. Here’s what he said:
“Well, there’s Google AdSense. But, you know, I think when it comes to revenue, it’s a question of “What is it you’re trying to accomplish? What is your goal for your channel?” And mine was not to make money, I don’t like to leave money on the table. Let’s put it that way. So, it’s not something I was going to ignore if it was a low hanging fruit.”
It’s important to know you’re goal and what you want to accomplish to have a clear picture on what you’re gonna do to reach your YouTube success. Thanks for that Mike! Moving on, Mike has a really great piece of advice for YouTubers that are starting out their channels. Here’s what he said:
“I think the biggest advice would be pick an area or a niche that you’re passionate about. Because when the going gets tough, and you start losing some enthusiasm, motivation, or you get discouraged, you can keep on going. So, focus on something that you are passionate enough about that not only can you get started but you can keep going for a long time.”
Wow, that’s something for starting YouTubers to keep in mind. Follow your passion! A little bit of passion truly goes a long way.   Mike also has a great advice for a more established YouTubers, and here’s what he said:
“I think it’s learning from other creators, especially content creators that focus on the niche of YouTube, that provide advice on how you can improve your channel and how you can take advantage of the new and changing YouTube features, taking advantage of the YouTube Creator Academy that YouTube provides. I think it’s doing your homework and being willing to learn and invest some time and energy not just creating videos but learning how to create videos and how to take advantage of your channel.”
Never stop on trying to improve your channel, just like what Mike said, do your homework and be willing to learn more!  Before the interview ended, Mike left us a great piece of advice and here’s what he said:
“Pick a topic that you’re passionate about. It’s wide enough that you can deal with and it doesn’t have to be too wide for you to really niche down and drill down. Because at the end of the day, you’ve got to feel comfortable with the community that you’re getting and that you’re able to keep going with it.”
There’s no success without failure. Just be comfortable, be passionate. And you will surely reach your success too! Here’s what Mike said about his experience during his interview with us:
“And one of the biggest issues I find with volunteer organizations is getting people to step up. And you’ve stepped up, I really appreciate that, and I know all the other regular participants and the weekly meetup. I really appreciate that because you’ve taken the time to plan and organize it and keep it going, we thank you for that.”
Thank you so much for the positive feedback, Mike! The pleasure was ours.
